FaceTite — Minimally Invasive Facial Lifting

FaceTite delivers surgical-level lifting results without a scalpel, without incisions, and without a facelift recovery. Dr. Susan Tan is one of only two providers in Hawaiʻi offering this FDA-cleared technology — bringing a level of precision and expertise that only a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon can provide.

The Space Between Non-Surgical and Surgery

Not a Filler. Not a Facelift. Something in Between — and That’s Exactly the Point.

There is a gap in facial rejuvenation that injectables cannot fill and that many patients aren’t ready to close with surgery. Skin laxity that has progressed beyond what filler can address. Jowling that has started. A jawline that has softened. A neck that has lost its definition.

FaceTite was designed for exactly this patient. Using bipolar radiofrequency energy delivered through a tiny probe placed just beneath the skin — while a second electrode works simultaneously on the surface — FaceTite melts fat, contracts the deep tissue, and tightens the overlying skin from the inside out. No incisions. No general anesthesia. No facelift scar.

The result is a lifted, contoured lower face and neck with a recovery measured in days, not weeks.

Why Dr. Tan’s background matters here: FaceTite is a subcutaneous procedure — the probe is placed beneath the skin, in the same tissue planes a surgeon navigates. A fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon understands this anatomy with a depth that non-surgical providers cannot match. The result is both safer and more precise.

Rarity in Hawaiʻi

One of Only Two FaceTite Providers in Hawaiʻi

FaceTite requires significant clinical investment — the technology, the training, and the anatomical expertise to use it safely and effectively. Most non-surgical providers in Hawaii do not offer it. Most who do are not fellowship-trained surgeons who understand the subcutaneous tissue planes where the procedure operates.

Dr. Tan brings both — the technology and the surgical anatomy training that makes it precise. If you are looking for FaceTite in Honolulu or on Oahu, you have limited options. This is one of them.

The Technology

FDA-cleared bipolar RF energy device by InMode — the same company behind Morpheus8. Delivers controlled thermal energy via an internal probe and external electrode simultaneously.

The Training

Fellowship-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, University of Toronto. ABFPRS board-certified. The anatomical foundation for subdermal procedures.

The Oversight

Every FaceTite treatment is performed personally by Dr. Tan — not delegated to a nurse or technician. The level of precision required demands physician oversight from start to finish.

How It Works

FaceTite and AccuTite — Understanding the Procedures

FaceTite — Subdermal RF Lifting

A tiny probe — smaller than a needle — is inserted through a micro-entry point beneath the skin. It delivers RF energy internally while a second electrode works simultaneously on the skin surface. Together they melt fat, contract the deep tissue, and tighten the overlying dermis from the inside out.

Performed under local anesthesia. No general anesthesia. No scalpel. No facelift incision. The micro-entry points are essentially invisible once healed.

Best for
  • Jawline definition and jowling
  • Lower face laxity
  • Neck tightening and double chin
  • Submental fat reduction with skin tightening

AccuTite — Precision RF for Delicate Areas

AccuTite is FaceTite’s precision counterpart — a smaller, more refined applicator designed for delicate areas where larger devices cannot reach. Sometimes called Baby FaceTite, it delivers the same bipolar RF mechanism with greater anatomical precision.

It addresses fine lines and mild laxity in areas that require a more targeted approach — particularly around the eyes and mouth, where the tissue is thin and precision is everything.

Best for
  • Fine periorbital lines and lower eyelid laxity
  • Perioral lines (smile lines)
  • Brow area mild laxity
  • Complement to FaceTite in same session

FaceTite vs. Facelift — Understanding the Difference

FaceTite Is Right When

  • Laxity is mild to moderate — not significant sagging
  • Skin quality is still reasonable
  • Patient is not ready for surgery or prefers to avoid it
  • Recovery time is a significant consideration
  • Maintenance between surgical procedures

A Facelift Is Right When

  • Significant structural descent has occurred
  • Skin excess requires surgical removal
  • Patient wants the most comprehensive, longest-lasting result
  • SMAS repositioning is needed for a natural outcome

Dr. Tan will advise honestly which treatment is right for your anatomy — including when a facelift would serve you better than FaceTite. The recommendation is always based on your anatomy and goals, never on what generates more revenue.

Candidacy

Who Is a Good Candidate for FaceTite?

The ideal FaceTite patient is typically in their late 30s to mid-50s, with mild to moderate skin laxity and some fat excess in the lower face and neck. They want a meaningful lift without committing to surgical recovery.

  • Jowling — early to moderate
  • Submental fullness — double chin with skin laxity
  • Loss of jawline definition
  • Neck laxity — early to moderate
  • Patients not ready for a facelift
  • Maintenance between facelift procedures
Recovery and Downtime
Day 1–3 Mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness. Compression garment worn. Most patients manageable at home.
Days 4–7 Most patients return to light activity. Bruising fading. Initial contraction visible — the early result of tissue tightening.
Weeks 2–4 Swelling resolves. Contraction and tightening become progressively apparent. Most patients socially comfortable.
Months 1–6 Continued collagen remodeling produces progressive improvement. Full result visible at 3–6 months.

Common Questions

FaceTite — Frequently Asked Questions

FaceTite is performed under local anesthesia with oral sedation as needed — most patients find it comfortable throughout. You may feel warmth and some pressure, but significant pain during the procedure is not expected. Post-procedure discomfort is mild and well-managed with over-the-counter pain medication for most patients.

For the right candidate — yes, it can produce results comparable to a facelift. For a patient with significant skin excess, deep structural descent, or platysmal banding, a facelift will produce a better result. Dr. Tan will advise honestly which is appropriate for your anatomy. She has no incentive to recommend one over the other — only to recommend the treatment that will serve your goals most effectively.

FaceTite results are long-lasting — typically 3 to 5 years depending on the degree of skin laxity, lifestyle, and sun exposure. Aging continues after treatment, but at a slower rate than it would have without it. Many patients use FaceTite as a maintenance treatment between facelift procedures, or to extend the results of a prior facelift.

Yes — and this combination is one of Dr. Tan’s most comprehensive non-surgical treatment sessions. FaceTite addresses the deep tissue, fat, and structural lifting while Morpheus8 addresses the surface skin quality simultaneously. Both are performed in a single session for patients who need both lifting and skin quality improvement.

FaceTite requires only micro-entry points — tiny openings for the probe that are essentially invisible once healed. There are no incisions, no stitches, and no scars in the traditional sense. This is one of the primary advantages over surgical lifting for appropriate candidates.
