A Collaborative Approach to Foot, Ankle, and Total Body Wellness.
Dr. JennaLou Hollnagel-Kauffman established Pitter Patter Podiatry & Integrative Health to bridge a vital gap in patient care. Her goal was to blend the top-tier clinical resources of a large medical center with the unhurried, personalized attention of a trusted neighborhood physician.
Located in historic downtown Franklin, her female-owned practice intentionally steps away from the high-volume, corporate healthcare model. She firmly believes that meaningful healing begins when a doctor actually takes the time to listen. During a consultation, you receive her complete focus.
Because no two individuals are exactly alike, healthcare here is a true partnership. You will work together to review your overall health, discuss every viable option, and create a customized roadmap to achieve lasting relief.
“The Body is a Circuit”: Dr. JennaLou’s Clinical Mindset
In standard medicine, it is common to rely on quick fixes for localized symptoms. Dr. JennaLou is a strong opponent of the “prescribing cascade”—the cycle of issuing one medication to mask the side effects of another, all without addressing the actual physiological breakdown causing the pain.
“My passion is puzzles, and I like connecting all the dots,” Dr. JennaLou explains. “I believe everybody’s body is just one big circuit. When you come into my office in chronic pain, we have to figure out exactly where that circuit isn’t firing and try to correct it.”
Patient education is the foundation of her practice. She ensures you fully grasp the mechanics of your diagnosis and the reasoning behind your treatment plan.
While she is a highly trained surgeon capable of performing complex lower-extremity reconstructions, her philosophy remains strictly conservative-first. She prioritizes advanced, non-invasive therapies and reserves the operating room strictly as a final resort.
The Origin Story: From Botany to Biomechanics
Her holistic approach to medicine stems from a distinct academic background. Growing up in Hollywood, Florida, she spent her early years deeply involved in competitive equestrian sports as both a rider and trainer. This athletic background ignited a lifelong interest in human performance and sports medicine.
She later attended the University of Florida to earn her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Botany. Studying complex plant ecosystems profoundly shaped her medical worldview.
She recognized that the human body operates in the exact same way—not as a machine made of disjointed parts, but as a dynamic, interconnected environment. During her time at UF, she furthered her passion for athletics and science by working at the Cancer and Genetics Research Center and directly supporting the Florida Gators football program.
Uncompromising Medical Authority & Expertise
While the atmosphere at Pitter Patter Podiatry is relaxed, the clinical standards are elite. Choosing to remain in her home state for medical school, she graduated in the top decile of her class at the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. She went on to complete a rigorous surgical residency at Baptist Health in Boynton Beach, Florida. Operating under the guidance of leading reconstructive experts, her dedication earned her the prestigious role of Chief Resident.
To provide comprehensive care without constantly referring patients to outside clinics, she has dedicated her career to mastering multiple medical disciplines. Today, she holds quadruple board-certified credentials:
Podiatry and Foot & Ankle Surgery
Fully board-certified to manage everything from acute sports trauma to elective structural reconstructions of the lower extremities.
Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine
Board-certified in Wound Care with specialized credentials in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). Her leadership in directing advanced wound centers has resulted in elite limb-salvage outcomes, earning national recognition including the Center of Distinction and the President’s Award.
Peripheral Neuropathy & Nerve Surgery
Having cultivated a highly specialized focus during residency, she routinely performs advanced nerve decompressions to restore sensory function, resolve drop foot, and alleviate chronic burning.
Restorative & Minimally Invasive Care
She relies heavily on advanced, cell-free restorative protocols to manage conditions like fat pad atrophy, severe tendonitis, and varicose veins without relying on destructive steroid injections. She also integrates targeted medical Botox therapies for specific structural foot deformities.
Due to her highly objective diagnostic approach, she also frequently serves as an Independent Medical Examiner (IME) for worker’s compensation cases and provides expert witness testimony for legal firms.
A Passion for Teaching & Community
Using her medical platform to elevate her field and support the local community is a core pillar of her career.
Medical Leadership
She has a deep love for academic teaching, frequently hosting surgical and wound care rotations for visiting medical students and residents. As a recognized Key Opinion Leader (KOL), she travels across the country to train fellow physicians on state-of-the-art tissue repair techniques.
Special Olympics Foot Care
She frequently steps outside her private practice to volunteer with the “Fit Feet” program, conducting comprehensive podiatric and biomechanical screenings for Special Olympics athletes so they can compete safely.
Life Outside the Clinic
- Long before entering the medical field, she was a highly competitive equestrian rider and trainer—a passion she carried from childhood through college.
- She maintains a deep personal commitment to health and fitness, having previously worked as a Certified Personal Trainer and competed in fitness competitions throughout medical school.
- True to her Florida roots, she embraces a highly active outdoor lifestyle, regularly enjoying the beach, scuba diving, swimming, and fishing.
- Above all, her greatest joy is spending her downtime at home with her husband, their children, and their many animals.
